How many times do we answer this question with words that mask how we are really doing? How many times do we search for words to describe how we are doing only to come up short? <br />Especially when faced with life’s big challenges (depression, grief, illness, broken relationships), finding the right words to talk with family, friends, religious leaders—even God—is often hard to do. <br /><br />Thompson has taught religion at Hamline since 1996, offering courses on ancient Christianity to contemporary African American religious thought. She received a master's degree in arts and religion from Yale University and a PhD in theology from Vanderbilt University. Her most recent book, Hoping for More: Having Cancer, Talking Faith, and Accepting Grace, was featured in the fall edition of the Hamline Magazine. Scher formerly served as Vice President of Operations for the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar in Richmond, Virginia. Candy Hart has been the university’s archivist since the fall of 2001.
