Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program at Hamline University
Welcome to Hamline's PSEO program! Please read the following information carefully.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Program (PSEOP) at Hamline University is designed to allow qualified high school students to broaden their educational backgrounds through college-level courses. Hamline is a competitive college and admission to the PSEOP is selective.
Generally, students admitted to the program will have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50/4.00 and a class rank of top 15 percent. Students will have already taken a strong selection of college prep classes. Your high school background will be reviewed to determine preparation for the classes you would like to take.
It is important the courses you wish to enroll in support your high school program. The courses you take at Hamline will usually serve to meet some of your high school graduation requirements. Before you begin the process of selecting courses at Hamline, you should discuss your academic needs and goals with your high school counselor.
COURSE LIMITATIONS
High school juniors and seniors admitted to Hamline's PSEOP will be admitted to one course for their first term at Hamline University. Occasionally, high school seniors who have already completed PSEOP course work at Hamline are permitted to take two courses if their previous PSEOP course work and grades demonstrate exceptional achievement.
Hamline does not offer a full-time PSEO program.
Course selection is determined by the admission committee, and students cannot take courses outside the PSEOP course selection. Course registration is on a space-available basis and is determined one week prior to the start of the semester. Students will not be admitted to courses that are already full.
COURSE CREDITS
Students admitted to the PSEOP may take their courses for high school or college credit. The costs of tuition, books, and materials for courses taken for high school credit will be paid by the Minnesota Department of Children, Families and Learning. The cost of courses taken for college credit must be paid by the student.
Courses for high school credit at Hamline will automatically become college credits should you decide to become a Hamline student. Should you choose another college, you may submit the Hamline courses to the other college to be considered for transfer credit based on their own transfer of credit policies. Courses taken successfully for college credit may also be used for high school credit if the high school approves.
