
The Clarence Nelson Fitness Center is named for professor Clarence Nelson, who taught health and physical education classes, as well as served as a director of intramurals and director of athletics at Hamline University. The facility was dedicated on October 7, 2006 and was remodeled in the fall of 2007. This state-of-the-art work-out facility is available for use by the Hamline University community and is used by Piper student-athletes taking part in strength and conditioning programs under Coach Chris Hartman.


Following the remodel this fall, the fitness center boasts all new free weight equipment, 10 elevated lifting platforms, 20 individual lifting stations, and can accommodate 60 athletes per training session.
The new free weight equipment includes:
• 20 Olympic lifting bars – 20 kg
• 10 Olympic lifting bars – 10 kg
• 10,000 pounds of new free weights
• 2,500 pounds of Olympic lifting weight
• 2,000 pounds of new dumbbells

The new aerobic and cardiovascular areas include:
• 4 treadmills
• 5 eliptical machines
• 6 stairclimbers
• 9 stationary bikes

Monday - Thursday: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Friday: 6 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
