While in New Orleans we worked with several organizations, including:
United Methodist Committee on Relief: UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The work of this site is the physical gutting and rebuilding of houses that were flooded. Students stayed at the People’s Community Center with other UMCOR volunteers. They had the opportunity to work on environmental remediation projects, both in the wetlands or in the Lower Ninth Ward. http://www.umcor.org

Hands On New Orleans:
Hands On New Orleans, HONO. The work of this site varies and includes working on people’s houses, businesses, schools, and community centers. Students stayed at the Volunteer House with other HONO Volunteers. www.handsonneworleans.org

First Street UMC service-learning opportunities included physical work on people's houses and community involvement with neighboorhood people as needed.
CSI: White Earth
White Earth Land Recovery Project, Minnesota – Sustainable Communities
Students went to White Earth and tap the sugar maples, yes the sap was running! WELRP staff teach about sustainable economics; treaty rights, the history of White Earth; and environmental justice.
