International Undergraduate Student Application
How to submit your application
Our passion to prepare the next generation of global leaders naturally extends to our international undergraduate students who enhance our diverse student body. We know that traveling overseas to earn your degree is both exciting and uniquely challenging as an international student. Our admission team at Hamline wants to make applying as streamlined as possible.
We offer two ways to apply. Our two online options include utilizing the Hamline Application or Common Application.
International undergraduate applicants are students coming from outside the US to pursue their college degrees at Hamline, whether as first-year or transfer students.
- Applicants can transfer up to 64 credits of college-level coursework from high school, including 20 credits from AP or IB programs. Visit Hamline's transferring credits page for more information.
- Hoping to get your graduate degree at Hamline? Visit our page dedicated to international graduate students.
To get started, go through the application checklist and begin preparing the necessary materials. If you have any questions, we’re here to help at admission@hamline.edu.
Application deadlines
Both your application and deposit must be submitted by the final deadline for each term. Applicants transferring an F-1 visa from another US college or university may be considered for admission after May 1 or November 15.

Application checklist for international undergraduate students
We know that applying to any university involves filling out many forms and documents, and when you’re an international student, there’s even extra work to be done! To make the application process as easy as possible, we’ve put together a list of materials that you’ll need to be considered for admission.
What do we look for?
At Hamline, we’re seeking bold, passionate, and purpose-driven students who want to make an impact. Our admission requirements ensure that applicants have developed the writing, speaking, reasoning, and study skills to be successful in college. The two most important criteria we evaluate are high school course selection and performance in academic subjects. We also look at class rank, English proficiency through test scores, recommendations (if submitted), and other indicators of academic achievement or leadership ability.
If you haven’t completed the recommended coursework requirements but show academic aptitude, you’re still invited to submit your credentials for consideration. In addition to requested application materials, some applicants may be asked to provide the results of additional coursework and/or complete an admission interview.
Hamline doesn’t discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or veteran status. Diversity strengthens us, bringing new and unique perspectives to our community. We welcome applicants from nontraditional backgrounds, first-generation students, and we have specific campus resources for military students or veterans.
Scholarships for admitted students
Merit scholarships
These range from $4,000 to $22,000 and are awarded at the time of admission based on the academic records that students present in their application. Hamline does not offer need-based scholarships to international students.
