Beth Gunderson Retirement Party is January 30

Please join us for a celebration of Dean Beth Gunderson's career. Beth will retire on January 31, 2024 after over 43 years of dedicated service to Hamline. The event will be held Tuesday, January 30 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Anderson Center 112.

Dr. Beth Gunderson has served as the Dean of the School of Business since July of 2022. Prior to that, she was the interim Dean and previously, the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the School of Business. Prior to becoming Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, she served as Chair of the Department of Management and Economics in the College of Liberal Arts and as Chair of the Department of Finance, Accounting and Quant, and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Hamline School of Business. She joined Hamline University’s College of Liberal Arts in 1980 as a professor in the department of economics. Since being hired, Dr. Gunderson has taught a little bit of almost everything in the business curriculum—marketing, finance, statistics, econometrics, and decision science. Dr. Gunderson served on Faculty Council, including a term as president. Questions about the Faculty Handbook? Ask Dr. Gunderson.

A highlight of Dr. Gunderson’s time at Hamline has been the opportunity to serve as the Faculty Advisor for the Women’s Lacrosse program since its inaugural season in 2016.  She has enthusiastically cheered for the team from both the sidelines and stands, traveled with the team to numerous NCAA tournament appearances, and regularly hosted team dinners at her home.

Beth earned her MBA from the University of St. Thomas and her PhD in decision science from the Union Institute in Cincinnati.

Her strategic vision and leadership have been assets to the School and to the University. She, along with her care for students, thoughtful decision-making, kind demeanor, quiet expertise, and impactful style of teaching, service and administration will be dearly missed.

Please do join us to celebrate Beth and her many contributions!
