After a long and thoughtful RFP process, Hamline University has changed food service providers from Aramark to Sodexo effective July 1, 2024. Summer operations begin Monday, July 8, 2024.
Earlier this year, we solicited feedback from students, faculty and staff and put forward the RFP process to review food service companies. Finalists were chosen, whose representatives visited Hamline at the end of April. In the end, the recommendation these groups gave to the University Leadership Team was to engage Sodexo’s services.
We are excited to begin our partnership with Sodexo and believe they will provide our community with the best overall experience and variety of meal options. Bishop’s Bistro concepts include homestyle, plant-based grown Savory Custom Kitchen, allergen-free Simply3 & SimpleZone pantry, Stacked, Sizzle, pizza and pasta, mix, and a halal-based spice market. An app will be available for pre-orders, and will contain menu options and other necessary information. The company is part of the Better Tomorrow 2025 campaign, which is focused on preventing waste, and promoting plant-forward options, managing energy, and responsible sourcing.
All this being said, it is difficult to end a relationship with Aramark that has lasted for over thirty years. They have done a truly wonderful job in feeding and serving our community members. We wish to extend our thanks to Aramark, and especially to Nick Ortega and his team for all the work they have done. We wish them all every success in the future.
