Lund awarded at Northern State University exhibition

Work by Curt Lund, associate professor in the department of Digital + Studio Arts, has been awarded first prize in "nice 02", a national juried exhibition at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. “nice 02” was curated by Epiphany Knedler and Tim Rickett, members of the art faculty at Northern State University and founders of Midwest Nice Art, an arts collective based in Aberdeen.  The winning work, My Children’s Book Of Saints, is a large-scale assemblage of found and collected objects, holy medals and relics, clippings of Catholic youth education books, and personal heirlooms from the artist and his family. The curators’ statement notes, “we chose works that required our full attention; Curt’s work commands the room. It allows viewers to spend time with him and his art, spurring questions about the way we view spirituality and the divine." “nice 02” is on display at NSU’s Johnson Fine Arts Center through September 15, 2024; Lund is one of 48 artists featured.
