• Rainbow Inclusion Network Training

  Duration: 3 hours (Two 90-minute sessions)
  Audience: Staff, Faculty, Student Leaders

  RIN training equips participants with practical skills for allyship to LGBTQIA+ students and colleagues, including language and etiquette skills, on- and off-campus resources for responding to LGBTQIA+ student needs and concerns, and practice responding to students in crisis or needing support. Individuals displaying the Rainbow Inclusion Network pledge to be understanding, supportive, and trustworthy if a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, asexual, or ally student or colleague needs advice, assistance, support, or just someone with whom to talk. RIN members receive a pledge to display as well as an enamel pin.

• StepUP! Bystander Intervention Training

  Duration: 90 minutes
  Audience: Staff, Faculty, Students

  StepUP! is Hamline's revamped prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program to prepare our community to be proactive in helping others. StepUP! attendees learn to assess both themselves and the situation at hand to determine the best approach to intervention, and to practice these skills in a wide range of scenarios related to interpersonal violence, sexual assault, driving while intoxicated, hate speech, verbal conflict, and more. Attendees receive a certificate and t-shirt, as well as the opportunity to become a paid facilitator.

• Gender & Sexuality Etiquette*

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop may be taught by trained student leaders

  This training provides basic LGBTQ+ language and etiquette skills for students and student leaders. Participants will learn new vocabulary, practice using a variety of pronoun sets, discuss the differences between gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and learn how to respond when others come out to them.

• Communication & Consent*

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop may be taught by trained student leaders

  This workshop engages students in healthy relationships, communication, and consent skills. Students discuss the basics of consent, safe and respectful flirting and break-ups, and practical communication skills, as well as practice setting and enforcing boundaries. They'll also learn about resources on- and off-campus to support them in building and maintaining healthy relationships.

• Safer Sex Skills*

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop may be taught by trained student leaders

  This workshop covers all things safer sex and genital health, including options and proper use of safer sex supplies (condoms, dams, internal condoms, and lubricant), STI transmission, testing, and treatment, birth control and emergency contraception use, communicating about safer sex, and non-sexual genital health such as UTIs, yeast and bacterial infections, anal fissures, and hemorrhoids. This workshop is evidence-informed, sex-positive, and shame- and fear-free.

• Birth Control 101: Options & Access

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop is taught by a Certified Sexuality Educator (CSE)

  This workshop discusses and demonstrates a variety of current birth control options, discussing benefits, limitations, effectiveness, access, and providing physical demo models for students to engage with. Birth control options covered include the pill(s), ring(s), patch, implant, shot, IUDs, emergency contraception, sterilization procedures, withdrawal method, cycle-tracking, condoms and diaphragms, and abortion.

• Sex in a Fishbowl

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop is taught by a Certified Sexuality Educator (CSE)

  This workshop is an interactive Q&A session in which students anonymously place sex and relationship questions into a bowl for the presenter to answer. This presentation creates a safe place for students to ask questions about sex, sexuality, and relationships without the fear of embarrassment.

• Pleasure Anatomy

  Duration: 60 minutes
  Audience: Students
  Teacher: This workshop is taught by a Certified Sexuality Educator (CSE)

  This workshop discusses sexual anatomy as it relates to pleasure rather than reproduction. Attendees will learn about anatomical structures and psychological development related to sexual and non-sexual pleasure and will learn about, handle, and design prototypes of sex toys and devices.

• Custom by request

  Please provide at least four weeks for the creation of a custom workshop. We can present on all things healthy relationships, sexual violence prevention, LGBTQ+ inclusion, queer and trans health and history, sex and sexuality, gender equity, menstrual health, and more. Our staff has created or hosted workshops such as: Gender-affirming Tailoring Basics, Menstrual Health & History, Queer Sex Ed, HIV & STIs Locally, and more!
