Leadership in Affordable Housing Certificate

Center for Public Administration and Leadership

With our certificate program, you'll develop a solid knowledge of the economics of affordable housing as well as the history and key political and economic issues that created the affordable housing crisis. Armed with that knowledge, you can identify opportunities and take action to address issues and inequities. You will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the economics of affordable housing in rental and home ownership
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the history of housing policy in the United States and key political and economic issues that have created the affordable housing crisis
  • Identify opportunities for leaders to collaborate with multiple entities in government, industry, and the nonprofit sector to address the problem of affordable housing

Format 

The Leadership in Affordable Housing Certificate is offered fully online.

Your classes will meet synchronously on the days listed below. Your Wednesday classes will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and your Thursday classes will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Additional work will be completed asynchronously.

  • Session 2: February 12–13, 2025

  • Session 3: February 26–27, 2025

  • Session 4: March 12–13, 2025

  • Session 5: March 26–27, 2025

  • Session 6: April 9–10, 2025

  • Session 7: April 23–24, 2025

  • Session 8: May 7–8, 2025

Note: All students must complete 90 hours of training in eight monthly sessions over the course of a year. Students who complete the Leadership in Affordable Housing coursework receive a certificate from Hamline University Continuing Studies.
Tuition

The program cost is $1,600, payable in two installments in January and August.

 Scholarship funding from Affordable Housing Connections may be available for qualified applicants.
