Sydney Povilaitis
Sydney Povilaitis is an assistant professor of analytical chemistry with a BA in Chemistry from Saint Olaf College. She is returning to the Midwest from the University of Texas at Austin where she developed technologies for bacterial identification and investigated peptide-membrane interactions under the guidance of Professors Livia S. Eberlin and Lauren Webb.
She is excited to join the Chemistry Department at Hamline where her research will use mass spectrometry to probe the chemical response of yeast to osmotic stress.
Outside of the classroom and the lab, she enjoys reading classic science fiction, scuba diving, and trying to tame her adolescent dog.
