John Sooja
John Sooja, visiting faculty in English and communication studies, graduated from Hamline University almost 20 years ago, majoring in English. He later earned his PhD in English at the University of California, Riverside, with a focus on Asian American literature, Feminist and Queer discourses, and New Media Techniques.
Sooja's dissertation focus was on transnational, transracial, family, and kinship politics in Korean American Literature.
He has taught at the University of California, Riverside, De Anza College, Blake School, and Southwest High School. Sooja also writes film and book reviews for Common Sense Media.
In addition to teaching, Sooja loves playing with his children, eating Korean food, watching premier league soccer, and adding to his ever-growing television, film, and book backlogs.
