Theatre arts scholarship criteria

Wondering how to get a theatre arts scholarship and if you’re eligible to apply? Students have to submit their admission materials and receive an offer of admission to Hamline before applying for any departmental scholarships. The Theatre Arts Scholarship is open to any student passionate about the field, regardless of major.

Applicants will be reviewed based on their background, theatre experience, letter of reference, and demonstrated interest in pursuing theatre arts. Scholarship finalists will then be invited to audition on campus.

To maintain the Hamline theatre arts scholarship annually, students must:

  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Be actively involved in the theatre program for two of three terms, including January term (whether that’s working backstage, acting in directing scenes, acting in mainstage shows, etc.)
  • Participate in regular departmental reviews

For answers to any questions, call the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 800-753-9753 or 651-523-2207, or email admission@hamline.edu.
