You don't have to wait until the end of the program to experience results. From your first class to your last class, you'll develop skills and tools you can apply the next day, in areas such as:

At Hamline, we know that you are busy juggling your career and personal life, so we have designed our MML degree program to be flexible to fit your schedule better. We offer three options for completing your masters in management and leadership: online, in-person on our St. Paul, MN campus, or hybrid.

Start dates and deadlines
We review applications on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply and start your on-campus, hybrid, or online management and leadership master’s degree at three different times throughout the year. However, those who apply by the priority deadline for that term are guaranteed a decision and get prioritized for scholarships.

You choose your format
With Hamline's MML, you have the option of getting your MML by choosing the format of your courses.
- Fully online
- Entirely in person
- A combination of the two for a hybrid program
While most courses are online or on-campus, some may be hybrid, depending on your concentration/electives.
Easily plan your life and your studies
In addition to the flexibility you gain by choosing the format of your courses as you go, Hamline's program is also easy to work into your life. No matter what format you choose, you'll have just one class per week meeting for 4 hours from 5:45 to 9:45 p.m.
Master's in management and leadership courses
You’ll finish your MML degree in eight courses.
The core of the master's degree in management and leadership is made up of five courses:
- MBA 8201 - Leading in Organizations
- MBA 8205 - Critical Thinking
- MBA 8255 - Data Analytics and Decision-Making
- MBA 8275 - Business Process Improvement
- MBA 8492 - Strategic Management
In addition to these five core courses, you'll complete one MPA elective and two other electives chosen from the School of Business master's level.

How to apply to the MML
To apply to the Master of Management and Leadership program, you’ll submit the following:
- Online application (no fee for US residents)
- A personal statement, up to three pages, answering the following:
- Why are you pursuing graduate studies at this time in your career, and what do you hope to accomplish by doing so?
- What makes the Hamline graduate program you have chosen appealing to you? What strengths do you seek to strengthen; what challenges do you seek to overcome?
- At Hamline, we believe in the power of teams. Thus, we teach and have students practice teamwork skills throughout the program. Please describe a past team experience—either excellent or difficult—and what you learned from the experience.
- A resume
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate work. If your transcripts are in a language other than English, you must submit both the original and an official or certified course-by-course English translation. Official transcript of a bachelor's degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university. These should be sent directly from the institution to Graduate Admissions or provided in a sealed, signed envelope. Official electronic copies should be emailed to gradprog@hamline.edu. The Hamline University School of Business reserves the right to require applicants to have their academic records evaluated by an academic credential evaluator.
- Two recommendation forms detailing your qualifications to pursue advanced study written by people unrelated to you who are familiar with your academic and/or professional history. These forms will be sent to recommenders you identify as part of your online application.
