Binnur Ozkececi-Taner

Binnur Ozkececi-Taner is a professor of Political Science in Hamline University's College of Liberal Arts. Since joining Hamline, she has taught courses on international relations, Middle East politics, foreign policy, ethnic and civil conflict, security studies and political research and analysis. Professor Ozkececi-Taner has published numerous articles and book chapters and presented her research at national and international conferences. She holds a BA in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (Ankara, Turkey), an MA in Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute, and a PhD in Political Science from Syracuse University.

Students taking a class with Professor Ozkececi-Taner will learn how to apply theories in international relations, foreign policy analysis, and ethnic and civil conflict to past and current events and examine their relevance. Students will also learn how to challenge themselves to become better consumers and producers of research.

"Students need to take responsibility for their learning. They have to be mindful individuals who can engage in constructive dialogue with their peers and professors. To do that, they need to be prepared to have their views and beliefs to be challenged in and outside of classroom. This is the key to a fulfilling life during and after college years."
