Ms. Gilroy is a member of the voice faculty at Hamline University and at Minneapolis Community and Technical College; she also maintains a private voice studio in Minneapolis. Besides teaching, Debra performs as a soloist and ensemble artist throughout the Midwest region. Repertoire includes works by Wagner, Strauss, Verdi, Massenet, Weber, Sibelius, and others. She earned her post-graduate certification in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Minnesota and holds an MM degree and BA degree in Music. She currently studies with international pedagogue David Jones in New York City, New York, and Emma Small in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ms. Gilroy's passion for singing is evident in the environment she creates in the studio: positive, cheerful, safe, and creative. Voice students will learn the fundamentals of vocal technique and how it applies to repertoire. Each student will receive the pedagogical tools needed to perform with resonant space, connected registers, a released and supported tone, and sensitivity to poetic text. These tools will also help the student analyze and apply pedagogical techniques for a more solid, confident performance. At that point the student can better understand his/her full potential as a singer.

"Students will leave the studio with a better understanding of the unique beauty and magnitude of their own voice released and realized through solid pedagogical practice."
