Josh Beverly
Josh Beverly is an economist who focuses on labor economics, rural/regional economics, data analytics and data dynamics. He primarily teaches courses in business analytics where he applies his passions for statistics, data visualization, econometrics, and time series analysis.
His research interests include labor market decisions, economic mobility, and data dynamics for rural and vulnerable populations around the U.S. His latest research involves studying the dynamics of labor force participation and the discouraged worker effect in the Appalachian region.
Before joining Hamline University, Josh worked as an adjunct professor, research assistant, teaching assistant, and as a fellow and project team leader for several Virginia County consulting projects through the Data Science for the Public Good program.
Josh holds a Ph.D. in economics from the Agricultural and Applied Economics department at Virginia Tech, and bachelor’s degrees in education and comprehensive mathematics from Concord University.
Josh enjoys interacting with students and making learning fun and engaging. In his classes, Josh’s goal is to teach the informational, intellectual, societal, and cooperative value of the content in ways that remain with students long after they leave the classroom.
He is always open to supporting students and helping them succeed.
