Lauren Husting is an active educator and performer in the Twin Cities music scene. She performs regularly with diverse ensembles such as Brass Lassie (traditional Celtic music), The Satellites (R&B), Mill City Five (traditional jazz), and Metro Brass (classical), and maintains a busy freelancing schedule. Her private teaching studio spans learners from beginning to adult and advanced and includes opportunities for low-income students to access individualized music instruction and performance experience. She frequently serves as a clinician and coach for schools and groups throughout the Cities and beyond. Lauren holds performance degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of North Texas and began teaching at Hamline University in 2015.

Lauren teaches low brass from a holistic musical perspective. She encourages her students to unlock their inner musicianship and practice performing at all times, learning technique and style through expression. Her influential teachers include Jan Kagarice, Vern Kagarice, William Richardson, and Sean Reusch.

"How to play trombone? Step 1: Blow in the little end. Step 2: Music." -Vern Kagarice
