Lucas Threinen
Luke Threinen teaches finance courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
Prior to joining Hamline University, Dr. Threinen taught at the Fox School of Business at Temple University, Macalester College, and St. Olaf College, where he enjoyed delving with his students into international trade and finance, labor economics, game theory, and many other topics. He also served as a policy analyst for the Council of Economic Advisors in the Executive Office of the President.
Dr. Threinen’s research interests are in the fields of principal/agent theory and trade policy.
His favorite thing about teaching is helping students to overcome their perceived limitations. He encourages students to push themselves academically and find what they are passionate about. Dr. Threinen is eager to devote time to students beyond the classroom as well, frequently holding office meetings (scheduled or otherwise) that turn into impromptu recitations.
