Dr. Sarah McLarnan is an assistant professor of public health at Hamline University, bringing experience from her graduate studies at Columbia University and an undergraduate background from the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota. Her research focuses on developmental neurotoxicology, with a commitment to integrating epidemiological and experimental methods to enhance public health outcomes. As an educator, Professor McLarnan emphasizes the importance of building community, creating hands-on learning opportunities, and fostering an understanding of learning as a continuous, evolving process.

Professor McLarnan's teaching approach is rooted in her belief of the value of experiential learning and community-building. She believes students excel when they feel supported to take risks and explore ideas in a collaborative environment. Her classrooms are dynamic spaces that encourage active participation, humor, and inclusivity, allowing students to gain confidence as they grow academically and personally.

When not teaching or conducting research, Professor McLarnan enjoys exploring the outdoors through canoeing, camping, and hiking with her golden retriever, Wesley.
