Urvashi Gangal
Urvashi Gangal, Visiting Faculty of Chemistry at Hamline University teaches physical chemistry, general chemistry, and chemistry in society courses. She earned her doctorate degree in chemistry on the topic of glow discharge electrolysis from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. She additionally mentors students in undergraduate research on plasma chemistry.
Her research focuses on wastewater inactivation by a cold atmospheric pressure plasma. Her other research interests are in plasma medicine, plasma liquid interactions, and plasma as a tool for synthesis. She is also a visiting researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. During her post-doctoral work at UMN she focused on detailing the mechanism of virus inactivation and silver nanoparticle synthesis by a cold atmospheric pressure plasma. She has industry experience in the research and development sector of corrosion control.
