HSEL Professors Joe Lewis and Letitia Basford have published a chapter in a recently released book: Practical Strategies to Reduce Childhood Trauma and Mitigate Exposure to the School-to-Prison Pipeline, published by IGI Global. Their chapter – “Spaces of Healing and Empowerment: Creating Safe and Trauma Free Schools for All Youth” – extends their research on the school-to-pipeline by examining its causes, illustrating its damaging effects on real people, and analyzing the success of programs that are mitigating the pipeline through "pedagogical and institutional plasticity."
