Martinez-Vaz, Students Present at Symposium

Hamline students Hafsa Ahmed ’24, Indigo Rowland ’24, Katrina Rasstryzhenkau ’23, Marlene Gutierrez ’24 and Ahmed Kayad ’24 presented their research on antibiotic discovery at the National Tiny Earth Symposium in Madison, Wisconsin. The projects presented were done as part of the research in classroom component of Professor Martinez-Vaz's microbiology class. The Tiny Earth Summer Research Symposium showcases undergraduate students' work on antibiotic-producing bacteria and innovative techniques to design new antimicrobial compounds.
