Celebrating Collaboration and Looking Ahead

The Hamline to Hamline Collaboration finished the year strong with several energizing activities. We kicked off the month of May with a K-5 Field Day event organized by the Hamline University Athletics department. Hamline Elementary students walked over to Klas Field to enjoy a variety of activities facilitated by Hamline University scholar athletes. Students had a chance to learn lacrosse, jump over (very low) hurdles, learn to run a relay race, and so much more. A very special thanks to Ryan Wockenfus and the over 40 scholar athletes who made this event possible!  Kindergarten classes visited Bush Library for a short tour and special story time with university librarians.

Students impressed the librarians with their knowledge of word sounds and excellent questions! We piloted a Forensic Science academic pairing with our third grade classes where they learned all about fingerprints. On Monday, June 3, Hamline Elementary 5th graders visited Hamline University for our second annual Onward and Beyond program - a chance for students to reflect on their Hamline Elementary experience and learn more about the college experience with a campus tour provided by the Hamline University Admissions Office.

And finally, after a year of learning and writing together, our Snelling Connection program sent its 2023-2024 newsletter to print.  We’ve had a lot of fun together and there is much to look forward to next year. Our team is so grateful for a year of increased partnership and learning across our two campuses and the people who make it possible. We wish everyone a wonderful summer and look forward to working together again!
