Madalynn Collura, Master of Arts in Literacy Education (MALEd) graduate student, was selected for the New York Public Library's Center for Educators and Schools Summer Residency program. The theme for this year's program is "Dangerous Books," which connects to her graduate research work. Collura is currently finishing her capstone project. For her project, she is building and installing a Little Free Library in her community. This Little Free Library will be filled with books for teenage readers that have been targeted for censorship. These books often explore topics such as mental health, systemic racism, and LGBTQ+ experiences. At a time when young people are constantly learning about themselves and the world around them, books like these can play a crucial role in their development.
