Hamline Ranked Minnesota's Best Regional University for 4th year

U.S. News & World Report ranked Hamline University as Minnesota’s top regional university for the fourth year in a row, according to its 2024-25 report released Tuesday. Hamline was ranked 16th overall in the Midwest by the influential college ranking publication.

“While no ranking can tell the entire wonderful story of Hamline University, we are particularly proud to be first in Minnesota for value and for veterans and to be very highly rated for social mobility,” Acting/Interim President Kathleen Murray said. “Our mission focuses on student learning and making that learning accessible to as many students as possible.”

Hamline retained its top spot in Minnesota’s Best Value School rankings for a third consecutive year. Another outstanding result for Hamline was Best Colleges for Veterans, where the university was again ranked #1 among Minnesota Regional Universities and 5th in the Midwest.

Hamline also rose up the ranks in Social Mobility (3rd among Minnesota universities, 15th in the Midwest) and Undergraduate Psychology Programs (tied for 9th in Minnesota).

In other U.S. News regional rankings: Hamline was 3rd in Minnesota for Ethnic Diversity (16th in the Midwest) and Economic Diversity, and 5th in Minnesota for First Year Retention Rate.

Now in its 40th year, U.S. News rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 national colleges and universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality and place an emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.
