Hamline Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults (MFAC) Faculty Advisor Erin Entrada Kelly's recent novel, THE FIRST STATE OF BEING (Greenwillow Books/HarperCollins Publishers), and MFAC alum Alicia D. Williams's verse novel, MID-AIR (Atheneum/Caitlyn Dlouhy Books/Simmon & Schuster), were both longlisted for the prestigious National Book Award. Of the hundreds of novels in young people's literature submitted for the award, ten are longlisted for the award. Finalists will be announced on October 1.
