Hamline University’s chapter of Alpha Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for first-generation college students, inducted ten new student members on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The event included the formal induction ceremony and remarks from student leaders, Acting/Interim President Kathleen Murray and AVP/Associate Dean of Students Carlos Sneed with many family members and friends in attendance. New student members include: Hanan Abdi (’26), Abbie Chandarath (’26), Felicity Ellsworth (’27), Anna Fleischhacker (’25), Cecilia Herrera Ramirez (’27), Lynn Nguyen (’26), Vy Phung (’26), Calli Swink (’25), Malena Thammavongsa (’26) and Jessica Vo (’26). Six staff members were also officially inducted into Tri-Alpha: Laila Abu Hassoun (CASA), Cheryl Dooley (Financial Aid) Kate Johnson (CASA), Carlos Sneed (Dean of Students Office), and Kareem Watts (Hedgeman Center), as well as alumna/former Residential Office staff member Rebecca Rosario. Hamline University officially launched the Theta Psi Chapter of the Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society on April 16, with 41 students initiated at the Chartering and Initiation Ceremony.
