You may remember being invited to write a note to your legislator earlier this year in support of the Minnesota State Grant program, which provides need-based financial aid that goes directly to students. HUSC is excited to share another way to get involved!
On Tuesday, March 11th from 8:30 AM – 2:15 PM, Hamline students will join hundreds of other advocates for Day at the Capitol — a powerful day of advocacy training, skill-building, meeting with legislators, and networking. The day kicks off with a training session led by the Minnesota Private College Council that will teach you to be an effective advocate for the Minnesota State Grant and other causes you’re passionate about. You’ll join conversations with your legislators alongside other students. Together, we’ll ask our legislators to support college students and increase funding for the State Grant program.
This is a great opportunity to build and practice your advocacy skills, expand your professional network, and meet other students who are passionate about increasing accessibility and equity through the Minnesota State Grant program. Now more than ever, your voice is crucial to ensuring that Minnesota legislators know how important the State Grant is to students.
Transportation and lunch will be provided free of charge - those that register for the event will be provided with these details at a later date. All you have to do is sign up here! The registration deadline is Tuesday, February 25th.
Join us for a day of action, learn how to be an effective advocate, practice your skills, and meet your legislators alongside other advocates
We hope you’ll consider joining us!
