Professor Serena King (Psychology) earned an International Gaming Disorder Certificate from the International Problem Gambling and Gaming Certification Organization. The certificate aims to increase the number of counselors able to address gaming disorders in their current outreach, prevention, and clinical settings. Best practices and evidenced-based approaches are emerging for the treatment of gaming and digital misuse, as well as the intersection with problem gambling and gambling disorders. Professor King is one of two IGDC certificate holders in Minnesota and is one of a handful of PhD level professionals with the certification worldwide.
