Seven Receive "Beloved Community Awards"

On Tuesday, January 21, at the 2025 University Commemoration for Dr. Martin Luther Jr. King, seven members of our university and local community were presented with Hamline University Beloved Community Awards.

Through the presentation of these awards, the university recognizes students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members whose demonstrated leadership, service, and commitment epitomize the work that must be done by all of us to enjoy meaningful lives, relationships and participation in The Beloved Community, avoiding what Dr. King called the giant triplets – racism, poverty and militarism.

Please help us congratulate this year’s recipients, including Seena Hodges (graduate student), Illiana Cantu Delgado (staff), Professor Ryan J. LeCount (faculty), David and Brenda Edmondson Heim (alumni), Karla Benson Rutten (community leader, executive director of The Jeremiah Program) and The Ujamaa Place (community organization).  For more information on Dr. King and The Beloved Community, please visit the King Center website.
