Mubanga Kalimamukwento's short story collection Obligations to the Wounded won the 2025 Minnesota Book Award in the Novel & Short Story category. Mubanga earned her MFA in Creative Writing at Hamline University in 2023 and was an associate editor of volume 26 of Water~Stone Review ("Wreckage of Once Was"). Mubanga also recently published a new collection of poetry with Wayfarer books titled Another Mother Does Not Come When Yours Dies.
