Direct Admission Program to Mitchell Hamline School of Law
Through an advantageous partnership between Hamline University and Mitchell Hamline School of Law, the Direct Admission Program (DAP) enables qualified Hamline students and alumni to be admitted to Mitchell Hamline as a law student in the Mitchell Hamline J.D. program with a scholarship.
Eligibility requirements
- Complete or be on track to complete all requirements for a Hamline bachelor's degree before matriculating at Mitchell Hamline;
- Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in courses taken at Hamline and on all transferred courses (transferred courses means undergraduate- or graduate-level credits earned at an institution other than Hamline which Hamline has accepted as degree credits);
- Earn a minimum score on the LSAT at or above the 50th percentile of the most recent class to matriculate at Mitchell Hamline;
- Apply to Mitchell Hamline for admission into the full-time, part-time, or Blended Learning J.D. program between October 1 and May 1 in the academic year before the student intends to begin J.D. study;
- and Meet Mitchell Hamline's Character and Fitness requirements, as amended, and comply with Mitchell Hamline's general admissions policies and requirements.
Alternatively, a student who does not meet either the LSAT or GPA requirement, but who meets all other eligibility requirements, may be admitted subject to Mitchell Hamline's review of their overall application.
Scholarships
Hamline students and alumni admitted through the DAP are also guaranteed a scholarship from Mitchell Hamline equal to fifty (50) percent of Mitchell Hamline’s tuition for the then-current academic year. The scholarship is renewable each year the student is enrolled at Mitchell Hamline and remains in good standing.
NOTE: The availability of the DAP depends on a Memorandum of Understanding between Hamline University and Mitchell Hamline, which is subject to expiration or cancellation. Interested students should confirm that the DAP is currently available.
