The Oracle

Hamline's Student-run Newspaper

The Oracle is Minnesota’s oldest independent student-published newspaper. First published in 1888, it began as a monthly collection of letters and has transitioned into a weekly newspaper over the years.

The current iteration of the award-winning publication is delivered to buildings across campus every Tuesday, and its small but mighty staff comes from a wide range of academic disciplines. However, they are united in their mission to accurately cover the news that reflects the diversity of our campus and the Hamline-Midway community.

While it doesn’t have an enormous staff, the Oracle is a strong and passionate paper. I get to work with such incredibly talented and passionate people, and that has helped me fall in love with journalism and find my passion.

ORACLE WEBSITE

The Oracle welcomes your opinions

As a publication that prides itself on being honest and actively engaging with its community, the Oracle welcomes letters and commentaries from its readers. If you would like to submit a letter to the editor or a commentary, email oracle@hamline.edu.

For your submission to be considered for publication, you must include your full name—anonymous letters and letters written under pseudonyms will not be considered —and your submission must not exceed the word count. Letters to the editor must be no more than 250 words, and commentaries must be no more than 750 words.

Both letters to the editor and commentaries will be edited for clarity, fact-checked, and potentially trimmed to fit the available space in the newspaper.

Follow the Oracle on their social media channels for up-to-date news and announcements.
