Worksite benefits
Hamline offers three worksite benefits through Unum as optional insurances that may be used in conjunction with your medical benefit elections. Certain pre-existing conditions may apply for all three of these plans.
- Individual Short Term Disability: In the event you need to be out of work for up to 90 days due to illness or injury, this can replace a portion of your annual base salary.
- Critical Illness Insurance: This insurance is designed to help cover out-of-pocket expenses not covered by your health insurance. If you, your spouse, or child are diagnosed with a covered condition, you receive a lump sum pay out based on the coverage amount you elected. This plan also includes a wellness benefit the allows each enrolled family member to receive $50 by getting a health screening test, such as chest x-rays, stress tests, pap smear, blood test, etc.
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance: This is another insurance plan that offers a lump sum payout to you in the event of hospital admission. For example, $1,000 per insured once per year for a hospital admission or daily hospital confinement is $100 per day, to a maximum of 65 days once per year.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
- Basic Life Insurance: Eligible regular full time employees automatically receive the Basic Life and AD&D Insurance benefit through Unum (twice annual salary).
- Voluntary Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment(AD&D): Hamline offers additional voluntary life insurance plans that can be purchased at the cost of the employee through Unum. Included coverage plans offered are employee, spouse, or child(ren).
Long Term Disability Insurance
- Long Term Disability Insurance: In the event you need to be out of work for more than 90 days due to illness or injury, this optional insurance can replace a portion of your annual base salary. Long Term Disability is offered through Unum and the cost is split 50% Hamline/50% employee.
